About the Recipe
Understand the concept of patterns and sequences.
Develop cognitive skills in identifying and continuing patterns.
Introduce the idea that machines like computers can also recognize patterns.
Ingredients
Colored paper or cardstock (various colors)
Scissors
Glue stick
Markers or crayons
Preparation
Prepare Materials:
Cut out simple shapes (circles, squares, triangles) from colored paper.
Arrange the shapes in a pattern sequence (e.g., red circle, blue square, yellow triangle).
Introduce the Pattern:
Show the children the pattern you've created with the shapes and colors.
Explain that a pattern is a sequence that repeats in a specific order.
Pattern Recognition:
Ask the children to identify the pattern and continue it by adding the next shape.
Encourage them to use the available shapes to extend the pattern sequence.
Discuss AI and Patterns:
Explain that just like they can recognize and continue patterns, computers and AI can recognize patterns in data too.
Simplify by saying that computers can learn to sort pictures and to recognize the shapes of the objects in the pictures.
Create and Share:
Let each child create their own pattern using the shapes and colors provided.
Ask them to show their pattern and explain how it repeats.
